Hampden 8 marks 1 year 8x 20cl 2024
This 8 Marks collector set gives you a unique insight into the production of Jamaican Rum.
Historically, all Jamaican distilleries make a wide variety of spirits, each with its own characteristics, from light and fruity rums to extremely flavorful and funky rums.
Each batch falls within one “mark”, with its specific fermentation and distillation methods, giving each batch a different character. The most common way to define a brand is by measuring its ester content, expressed in grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol (gr/hlpa). 'Marks' are often referred to by cryptic letter codes, each corresponding to a specific production method and ester level.
Hampden Estate produces 8 different 'marks', each registered with the Spirits Pool Association in Jamaica, ranging from approximately 50 grams to a whopping 1,600 grams of ester per hectoliter of pure alcohol.
The chart below shows the concentration and full name of each of the brands produced at the Hampden Distillery:
OWH: Outram W. Hussey = 40-80 gr/HLPA
