Rum Nation Small Batch Rare Rums Engenho Novo 2009 - 2018

This is a Rhum Agricole from a very traditional distillery on the island of Madeira and is fully aged in Whiskey barrels. This gives it a beautiful dark color and a rich sweetness of dates, ripe figs and raisins, with notes of cola and black tea. The spicy note, as expected for a sugar cane juice based rum, is noticeable. The sweetness is soon supported by a very peppery character, a pleasant note of oak, and lots of licorice. The final is dry.
